Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing: If you are looking for the ultimate workout, or a great way to get started with winter activities, take advantage of the three Nordic Centers and multiple trail systems in Grand County. Local Nordic Centers include Devil's Thumb Ranch Nordic Center, Snow Mountain Ranch/YMCA of the Rockies Nordic Center, and Grand Lake Nordic Center, which feature groomed trails for skate and classic skiing, as well as snowshoe trails. There are also cross-country ski & snowshoe trails at SolVista Basin, was well as several public trails for some light backcountry touring.

Boating: Within 30 miles of Fraser, there are three lakes perfect for taking out a boat or kayak, or just relaxing on the beach. Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, & Grand Lake are all situated right off of Highway 34 near the town of Grand Lake.

Important things to know before you arrive at the rec center...
FVRC does not provide towels or locks (except for purchase). Aquatic features have varying hours (see general brochure). Not all facility features are available for public use at all times (some are for scheduled programs only). When purchasing a membership you will need proof of residency - Homeowner's proof of residency can be accessed on the assessor website by our staff (you will need to provide a matching i.d.); Renter's proof of residency can come in the form of a lease or current utility bill (you will need to provide a matching i.d.). Any address on a driver's license does not suffice as proof of residency.

Museums: Grand County has three spectacular museums. These Museums are typically open Wed-Sat 11am to 4pm, Sun 1pm to 4pm, but please check with the individual museum for current open hours.

Scenic Drive: Moffat Road / Corona Pass: drive along the old railroad to the "Top of the World". You'll pass a historic trestle and the abandoned town of Arrow, once a thriving railroad town. This is a self guided auto tour that takes you on top of the Continental Divide, also one of the highest and most torturous railroad routes ever conceived. Pick up a self guided tour booklet at Cozens Ranch Museum or Winter Park Visitors Center. From Winter Park take US Hwy 40 2 miles south and turn left onto the Moffat Road, the "Over the Hill" route. This road is only open during the summer after the snow has melted.
